California: Palm Springs // Joshua Tree // Oceanside

Palm Springs has been on my destination list for some time now so when we decided to book a quick four day getaway this winter I thought it would be the perfect time to go.

The Ace Hotel and Swim Club

After doing some research beforehand we decided to stay at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club, a revamped mid-century hotel with a super laid back vibe.  We got the patio/fireplace room and it was definitely worth the upgrade as the nights can get pretty cool this time of year.  It was also nice to have the extra privacy with the enclosed patio.

Give me all the tacos.

Indian Canyons

Our first full day there we went to the Indian Canyons. I highly recommend checking it out if you visit Palm Springs.  It was just a few minutes down the road from the hotel.  Unique landscapes and hiking trails made for some lovely photos. Since it was the weekend we went really early and basically had the place to ourselves.

Joshua tree was amazing, probably my favourite part of the trip and one of the main reasons I wanted to visit the area.  It is a bit of a drive from Palm Springs, maybe close to an hour.

I really wanted to drive the coast down to San Diego but after making our way to Oceanside we realized there wasn't enough time to drive all the way there.  We stopped in Oceanside had some lunch and drove further down the coast to Encinitas where we sat on the beach for a bit watching the surfers.  I regret not staying for the sunset, like so much.  Next time I'll catch it for sure.
